It's made him jaded and more ruthless than before. However, he keeps his facade of a happy-go-lucky trickster.

Goro, during a rebellious phase, married Aki against his mother's wishes. He attempted to make use of her talents and maintain the relationship but sensed something was off. Goro discovered Aki's true intentions to kill him and ultimately foiled her plans. He felt foolish for allowing himself to fall for obvious tricks. Since then he's sealed off his affections and avoids female company.
